Toy4Tots

California State Trapshooting Association - C.S.T.A. Toys-4-Tots Series Shoots

The Toys for Tots Program is run by the  U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

The principal Toys for Tots activities which take place each year are the collection and distribution of toys in the communities in which a Marine Corps Reserve Unit is located and in communities without a Reserve Unit that has a Marine Corps League Detachment or group of men and women, generally veteran Marines, authorized by Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to conduct a local Toys for Tots campaign.

Local Toys for Tots Campaign Coordinators conduct an array of activities throughout the year, which include golf tournaments, foot races, bicycle races, trap shoots and other purely voluntary events designed to increase interest in Toys for Tots, and concurrently generate toy and monetary donations.

California State Trapshooting Association - C.S.T.A. Toys-4-Tots Series Shoots:

All the toys collected are donated to the local Toys 4 Tots program.

The club sets the fee for each event, generally, one or two dollars more than usual. Shooters are encouraged to bring toys valued at $10.00 or more for ages 0 to 11 years. The shooter is charged the full amount of the event except. When a shooter brings a toy $10.00 will be deducted from the entry fee. So if the shooter brings a toy for each event, $10.00 of each event will be deducted. If the shooter only brings one toy and shoots more than one event, $10.00 will be deducted for one event and all other events will be paid in full.

There is one additional buckle that is separate from the regular trophy package. It is a larger buckle and has the names of the participating clubs on it. Each club participating splits the cost of that buckle. This was set up for clubs that are near each other and are holding a Toys 4 Tots shoot on different dates. To be eligible to win this buckle the shooter needs to attend all the Toys 4 Tots shoots that are participating and then you take the best singles and best handicap score from each club shot and the one with the highest score wins. Shooters like this and it encourages them to shoot all the clubs. The reason for the best singles and best handicap is that not all shooters can attend both days of all the shoots.
